Fit for the 4th!

The temptation to indulge, and forget your fitness goals over a holiday weekend can overcome even the most dedicated individuals.  We often ask ourselves how we can stay motivated and on track over the holiday weekend.  Here are three MuvLab staff picks to keep you active this weekend.

1.     Run a 5k Race. We’re fortunate in Colorado that we many options when it comes to fun charitable races over the 4th of July weekend.  A quick search shows over 30 different runs this weekend across the state.  Two of the local favorites are the Liberty Run 4 Mile run at Washington Park in Denver and the HRCA July 4th Independence Day 5k in Highlands Ranch. 

2.     Hit the trails. We love summer time in Colorado because the recreational options are limitless.  You can hike, bike, run and backpack in some of the most beautiful areas in the country, all within a few hours of Denver.  Trails that you will find the MuvLab staff using this summer include: Buffalo Creek, Grays and Torrey's 14ers, and the Manitou Incline / Barr Trail

3.     Go to the beach. When people think of Colorado they definitely don’t think of beaches.  We’re lucky to have state parks that are home to many great lakes and beaches.  Our picks for beach activity this summer include Soda Lakes in Lakewood, Grand Lake, the "Western Gateway", to Rocky Mountain National Park and Jackson Lake State Park near Fort Morgan.  As you would expect, the water can be cold and the beaches get crowded.  Arrive early to find your spot and don’t forget to wear sunscreen!
